CROSS-COLUMN RETENTION PREDICTION IN REVERSED-PHASE LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY USING FACTOR ANALYTICAL MODELING

摘要
It is proposed here that the relative solvent strength relationship moly be transferable between similar columns (e.g., C-18 packing). The transfer between columns may be realized by using a ''key set'' solvent-projection matrix derived from measurements on one column and measurements for compounds in a key solvent set on each new column. This hypothesis is tested from water/methanol/acetonitrile solvent systems using data collected on three different C-18 reversed-phase columns. The average crossing prediction errors, ranging from 2% to 5% based on capacity factor, are obtained for various combinations of key solvent and prediction sets.
