IMAGE VECTOR QUANTIZATION USING A MODIFIED LEG ALGORITHM WITH APPROXIMATED CENTROIDS

摘要：
A new image vector quantiser (VQ) is introduced which uses a modified LEG algorithm for codebook production called LEG with approximated centroids (LBG-AC). Simulations show that an increase in PSNR (similar to 0.7-1.2dB) can be achieved using VQ with the LBG-AC algorithm over VQ with the LBG algorithm.
