ACCIDENTS IN ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE: PREVENTIVE NURSING CARE

摘要：

Objective: To identify accidents in elderly patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). Method: This is a quantitative research study whose backdrop was the center of AD according to Resolution 196/96 adopted by the Ethics and Research Institute of Psychiatry, UFRJ with Protocol 0026.0.249.000-08. The subjects were 20 patients and data collection occurred from April to August 2009. The content analysis was organized in thematic categories. Results: The categories indicate the following issues with patients: falls (35%), security (60%), walking (15%); cooking and control medication (100%). Conclusion: With the progression of memory deficits and guidance we realize that the deficits in care in activities of daily living had a tendency of progressive worsening.
