The article contains data and information taken from the work "MODERN FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION USED IN THE CONTEXT OF THE NEW ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CHALLENGES", scientific research detailed study based on the current economic and financial aspects of the national and European economy. Fundamental elements regarding the concept of sustainable regional development, the dimensions and the problems related to the regional disparities have resulted. The research emphasized the national and European financial instruments, the financial instruments and the instruments of analysis of the latter as well as the financing modalities of the regional policies through structural funds. The modern financial instruments for the non-reimbursable funds of the EU and the national and sectoral operational programmes which contribute to accessing the European nonreimbursable investments have also been analyzed.
