Using critically reflective practice when implementing ethical and sensitive spiritual frameworks in social work practice

Spirituality can be understood and expressed in many different ways. Due to the increased interest in spirituality, there also is an increased need to support social workers in this area. This paper discusses findings from a qualitative research project conducted in 2008 of six social workers working in a large Australian regional centre who implement spirituality in their practices. The results highlight the importance of social work students and practitioners practising critically reflective practice, which is underpinned by ethical and sensitive frameworks when implementing spirituality informed practice.
