RELATIONSHIP OF GRAIN-YIELD AND TEST WEIGHT IN SOFT RED WINTER-WHEAT

Test weight and grain yield were measured among closely related wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) lines for three growing seasons. The correlation between these two traits varied greatly across years. Under stress conditions where yields were low, there was a strong positive relationship. When environmental conditions were favorable and yields were high, there was a relatively strong negative correlation between yield and test weight.
