RECENT ADVANCES IN CHEMOTHERAPY FOR LYMPHOMA OF DOGS AND CATS

Highly successful combination chemotherapeutic protocols have now been developed for dogs and cats with lymphoma, thereby making attainment of durable remissions (i.e., those lasting longer than six months) the norm rather than the exception. Attaining durable second and third remissions through rescue therapy, however, remains an elusive goal. This article discusses recent investigations attempting to improve the efficacy and lessen the toxicity of current drugs in use. Recent investigations on rescue protocols that strive to achieve durable second remissions are also presented.
