The experimental data on the solvent effect in the kinetics of crystal growth have been summarized. The common approach basing on the concept of substantial contribution to the solution crystallization the mechanism of random attachment of particles to the surface of the crystal (the normal growth mechanism) and the methods of to estimate the latter contribution have been reviewed. The summarixed data have lead the authors to conclude the exaggerated role of the mentioned mechanism. The theory discussed has allowed to evaluate the solvent effects on layered growth of spahed crystals. The bibliography includes 52 references.
