Locating, Optimal Sizing and Reliability Analysis of Solar Based DGs in Radial Distribution System

The selection of DGs location and their sizes have been a research focus recently. A methodology is implemented to analyze the optimal capacity evaluation of DGs at optimal locations in RDS for minimizing real power loss and improving voltage profiles. Moreover, reliability indices in RDS are successfully evaluated and analyzed at the optimal DG locations. Also, a combined study is performed to address the above problem. The buses are identified based on loss sensitivity factor to fix DG capacity. Power flow constraints are considered during the optimization. A sine cosine algorithm is employed using MATLAB to find optimal DG capacity and results are compared with hybrid method. The results are obtained considering IEEE 33 and 69 bus RDS. © 2022, The Institution of Engineers (India).
