A fine-layered medium of finite-thickness in an electromagnetic field

摘要：
It is shown that the general solution of Maxwell’s equations in an inhomogeneous isotropic periodic fine-layered medium consisting of n pairs of different homogeneous isotropic plane layers coincides, as n → ∞, with the general solution of these equations in a homogeneous anisotropic medium formed by a uniaxial crystal of the same thickness as that of the initial inhomogeneous medium.
