The article describes the role of offshore jurisdictions in the world’s capital flows. It is noted that not only tax heavens, but also some developed countries (Netherlands, Great Britain, Switzerland) accumulate capital in significant quantities, formally being an investor. In view of this assessment of volume and sectoral structure of foreign direct investment in Russia and analysis of the results are carried out. © 2015, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
