摘要
Paul Clark explores the nature of war and famine by looking at the link between food insecurity and the war in Afghanistan over the last 20 years. He examines the effects of war on food security: food production, the transport and marketing of food, and the ability of people to afford that food which appears in the market. He shows how conflict has damaged all three of these elements of food security, but also suggests that a complete understanding of food insecurity in Afghanistan requires us to look beyond the war, and consider wider issues of poverty and economic change. © 2000 The Society for International Development.
