摘要
Acute retropharyngeal abscess is common in infants and small children due to supuration of retropharyngeal lymph nodes. It is also not uncommon in adults due to injury of posterior pharyngeal wall by sharp object, foreign bodies and instrumentation. But acute retropharyngeal abscess following accidental throttling is reported for unusual etiology.
