Science and innovation space of a macroregion: Prospects of innovative territorial development

The paper presents the dynamic indicators that characterize the research and innovation space in the macroregion of the Northwestern Federal District. It illuminates the conditions that exist for the scientific and innovative development of peripheral regions based on their own resources and their convergence with the leader. The factors of growth that underpin the scientific capacity of peripheral territories are investigated. Special attention is paid to the activities of local education and research organizations.
