Propagation of Flat-Topped Beams Passing Through a Paraxial Abcd Optical System With and Without Aperture

Making use of the new model of flat-topped beams (FTBs) proposed by Li recently, the analytical expressions for the field distributions of FTBs passing through a paraxial ABCD optical system has been derived, where both unapertured and apertured cases have been considered. The lens system is taken as a typical example for the ABCD optical system. The closed-form expressions for the focused field distributions of FTBs are given. The focusing properties have been studied in detail. © 2004, Optical Society of India.
