Information on the work of the St. Petersburg seminar on computational and theoretical acoustics with the scientific council of the Russian Academy of sciences on acoustics in 2008

St. Petersburg seminar on Computational and Theoretical Acoustics with the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Acoustics was held in 2008 at the Institute of Theoretical Engineering Problems of RAS. Eighteen seminar meetings were held, which were of interest for acousticians both from the point of view of physics and applied mathematical tools. Six reports were devoted to wave processes in acoustic media such as gas and fluid. F.F. Lyagusha and M.A. Musakaev considered dissipation of acoustic energy in an acoustic boundary layer (ABL). I.A. Golovin performed a numerical and asymptotic analysis of the dispersion equation for a perfectly thermoconductive gas. B.P. Sharfarets considered radiation pressure exerted by a plane's traveling wave if an ideal fluid was an arbitrary inclusion. Two reports from A.P. Kiselev and G.A. Rodgerson and V.D. Luk'yanov, Yu.A. Lavrov, V.A. Kalinin, V.A. Mel'nikov, and V.A. Shubarov were devoted to surface waves in elastic solids. Three reports were devoted to wave processes in nanostructures.
