Stratified One- and Two-Phase Flows in Horizontal Pipes and Pipe–Tank Systems

摘要
The normal operation of the system which in an emergency removes heat from the containment envelope of a nuclear power plant is studied. The experimental results obtained using a model of this system are presented. Unstable operating regimes of the heat removal system are found. These regimes are due to the appearance of hydraulic shocks and equipment vibrations. The reasons for these phenomena are determined. It is noted that the instability of the operation of the system is due to the penetration of relatively cold coolant from the cooling tank into the drain pipe.
