The paper describes and analyzes a fundamentally new kinematic scheme of a strapdown gyro inclinometer (GI) which allows for both continuous and stationary modes of GI operation for all possible trajectories of wellbores. The output parameters of the GI are independent of start-up errors of the two-axis angular rate sensor in all practical applications. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2013.
