摘要
Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense is a destructive fungal pathogen causing vascular wilt disease (Panama disease) in banana. The present study examines the pattern of expression of 18 defense-related genes, during Foc1 infection, using two contrasting banana genotypes ‘Calcutta-4’ (Resistant) and ‘Kadali’ (susceptible). The results showed that the expression analysis of 18 selected genes in Resistant genotype ‘Calcutta-4’ showed a peak of upregulation at both 3 and 10 days post inoculation. In all, early induction of the 18 defense genes could be used as indicators of the activation of defense responses in banana genotypes to fusarium wilt infection. The analysis of results indicates early up-regulation of genes involved in signalling and in antioxidants expression, and later, genes involved in cell wall modification and synthesis of secondary metabolites which impart tolerance to Foc1. © 2018, Indian Phytopathological Society.
