摘要
Reliable biomarkers that can guide the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer in the clinic remain an unmet needCirculating tumour cells (CTCs) are rare cells shed by tumours into the peripheral circulation, and might represent a means of noninvasive tumour samplingTechnological advances have improved the isolation and analysis of rare CTCs from patients with cancerCTC enumeration has been shown to be predictive of prognosis in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancerMolecular analyses of CTCs have the potential to enable real-time monitoring and predictions of response to therapy in patients with metastatic prostate cancer
