Eutrophication regulation of Wuxing Lake based on eco-dynamics model

Lake eutrophication is a global problem of the water environment. The regulation and control of lake eutrophication directly bear on economic sustainability. Considering the characteristics and pollution features of Wuxing Lake, this paper develops a eutrophication template suitable for the lake based on the MIKE ECO Lab powered by DHI and establishes an eco-dynamics model of the lake. Then, parameter calibration and model verification were performed against the actually monitored data. It was learned that the calculated values are consistent with the measured data, reflecting that the model applies to the research into the eutrophication of Wuxing Lake. In addition, this paper puts forward the joint control measures of ecological water transfer and ecological slope protection and evaluates the control effect under these measures. The results show that the joint measure reduced the chemical oxygen demand (COD), chlorophyll a, total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorous (TP) concentrations by 46.7%, 49.5%, − 7.3%, 32.9%, and 39.7% on average. Hence, the proposed method can effectively improve the water environment quality of Wuxing Lake, provide the basis for managing the water ecology of the lake, and promote the sustainable development of the economy in and around the lake. © 2021, Saudi Society for Geosciences.
