Researchers Do Not fall Prey to Misuse of Plagiarism Regulations

Even after almost two years from coming into effect, there are certain grey areas in the practice of the University Grants Commission (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2018. This paper presents and discusses in detail the provisions of the regulations that are intended to safeguard the students from any kind of exploitation. Lack of awareness amongst the researchers has allowed others to exploit them. Sample university plagiarism reports have been used to demonstrate a blatant violation of the provisions of the regulations. Some myths carried by the researchers have been clarified.
