Growth, structural, mechanical, optical, and thermal properties of Guanidinium Salicylate (GuS) single crystal for NLO applications

A semi-organic nonlinear single optical crystal Guanidinium Salicylate (GuS) was grown using slow evaporation technique. The single-crystal XRD analysis shows GuS belongs to orthorhombic structure with Pbca space group through high-quality single-crystal XRD data. FTIR analysis investigated the functional groups of the GuS crystal. Using the optical analysis, the cut-off wavelength was found to be 337 nm. Vickers microhardness test result shows that GuS belongs to soft nature category. From the thermal study, the material is found to be stable up to 439 °C. Compared with the Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate (KDP) crystal, GuS crystal was 0.6 times better which was confirmed by second harmonic generation (SHG).
