On the effect of fiber rotation upon deformation of carbon-fiber angle-ply laminates

An approach is suggested that allows one to take into account a change in the lay-up angle of fibers during loading upon determination of stresses and strains in axes of a unidirectional layer of carbon-fiber angle-ply laminates. The suggested relations are correct both in the linear and nonlinear region of deformation. It is shown that in the nonlinear region at high deformations the underestimation of fiber rotation can lead to significant errors in definition of the components of a stress–strain state of the unidirectional layer. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
