Effect of the Nutrient Supply on the Biomass Production of Winter Wheat and Weeds

Based on the results it can be stated that the extent of weed covering increased on those plots where organic matter (farmyard manure) were introduced into the soil. The increase, compared to those plots where only synthetic fertilizers were used, is considerably large at 2.7%. The dry biomass weight of w. wheat was 97–99% from the combined biomass weight of w. wheat and weeds. The weight of w. wheat and weeds were less in the NPK treatment as compared to that in the organically fertilized plot. However, both treatments showed a rise in the biomass production of w. wheat when the N dosing was increased. The biomass weight of the weeds was significantly higher when high levels of Nitrogen were present as compared to low levels of nitrogen. The w. wheats’ ability to retard the growth of surrounding weeds is exceedingly dominant. The weeds biomass production was infinitesimal compared with the w. wheat.
