摘要
Subcapital fracture after internal fixation and healing of intertrochanteric hip fracture is a rare identity not previously published in association with the AO-PFN (proximal femur nail). We report an unique case of a 74 year old woman who sustained a displaced subcapital fracture three weeks after uneventful removal of laterally protruded proximal screws without any history of a new trauma. According to the literature osteoporosis seems to be the unique cause for this serious complication. Traumatologists have to pay more importance to detect osteoporosis and its possible complications.
