Background: Needle localization and excision have been the preferred techniques for treating nonpalpable mammographic abnormalities. Recently, a less invasive approach, using the Advanced Breast Biopsy Instrumentation (ABBI) system, was introduced. This study was undertaken to determine the feasibility, utility, and cost of this new alternative approach.
