摘要
The present work was carried out to assess the dietary fat intake in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The study was conducted among 90 adult males (aged 25–40 years) from three distinct income groups viz Low (LIG) (Rs. 10–20,000), Middle (MIG) (Rs. 20–40,000) and high income group (HIG) (>Rs. 40,000). All dietary and non dietary variables accounted for 51.9, 88.9 and 90.3 % of variation in the body mass index of LIG, MIG and HIG subjects respectively. The association between fatty acid fractions intake and total cholesterol (TC) in LIG group was very weak, accounting for <1 % of variance, whereas, the total fat intake accounted for 2.2 and 8.6 % of variation in the TC of MIG (R2 = 0.022) and HIG (R2 = 0.086) subjects respectively. © 2014, The National Academy of Sciences, India.
