摘要
We study the influence of the size of the specimen and its shape on fracture toughness and propose several theoretical models for the assessment of fracture toughness. Some of these models belong to the author. The measurements of deformation constraints in the plane of the plate and across its thickness are discussed. The local approach to the assessment of fracture is briefly described and thoroughly analyzed. The proposed models correspond to the cleavage, ductile, and mixed mechanisms of fracture.
