摘要
One of the key goals of this research was to find a new hybrid organic–inorganic adsorbent material that was double layer hydroxide (DLH) intercalated with sodium lauryl sulfate (DLH-LS) and tested for methylene blue removal. The ZnAl-LS DLH hybrid was successfully prepared by a simple co-precipitation method at room temperature. The structure, the chemical composition and the physicochemical properties of the sample were determined using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The adsorption performance was evaluated by removing the cationic methylene blue (MB) dye. In order to determine the optimal conditions, batch adsorption experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of pH, contact time, ZnAL-LS concentration and initial MB concentration on the removal process. The experimental data were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. It has been found that after 30 min, the ZnAL-LS can achieve the elimination of all MB at the initial concentration of 10 mg/L. The maximum adsorption capacity is 233.37 mg/g. The results also showed that the adsorption equilibrium is well described by the Langmuir isotherm indicating monolayer adsorption and follows the pseudo-first order kinetic model. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
