摘要
Satellite Technology plays an extremely important role in providing cost effective, reliable and timely information on flood affected areas, which is crucial input for organizing relief operations during flood disaster. Remote sensing satellites in addition to monitoring various magnitudes of floods, offer great opportunities for creating a long-term database on flood proneness, risk assessment and relief management. The revisit of various satellites over flood affected areas at regular intervals will provide continuous monitoring of the flood situation and updated information of the ground which helps in decision making for relief management and quick assessment of flood damages.
