摘要
Studies on Wistar rats addressed P-glycoprotein expression in the blood-brain barrier in conditions of unilateral occlusion and occlusion-reperfusion of the common carotid artery. The interaction between expression of the transporter protein and measures of free radical status in cerebral cortex tissues in these conditions was assessed. Unilateral occlusion of the common carotid artery in rats was found to lead to a decrease in P-glycoprotein expression in the blood-brain barrier of the frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex at 12 h, with an increase in expression by day 5 of the experiment. Unilateral occlusion of the common carotid artery for 30 min with subsequent reperfusion decreased transporter expression at 4 and 12 h after reperfusion. The dynamics of P-glycoprotein expression correlated with changes in glutathione peroxidase activity in brain tissue. © 2017, Springer Science+Business Media New York.
