摘要
In this study, series of tests were done to investigate the impact of grass ash (GA) on the plasticity, swelling and compaction behavior of mix of black cotton Soil and lime. Standard proctor tests and one-dimensional swelling test were conducted to understand the compaction and swelling behavior. Lime contents in this study were considered as 3%, 6%, 9% and 12% by weight, while GA was varied as 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Results have shown that decrease in the liquid limit and increase in plastic limit occurred when lime and GA were included. Lime and GA both have potential to suppress the swelling characteristics of clay as admixture. Combined effect of lime and GA was found more significant in suppression of swelling. Optimum content of lime and GA was found to be 3% and 5%, respectively.
