A direct torque control system for synchronous electric drives

A relay-vector method of control of synchronous electric drives is discussed. Algorithms and structure of direct control of synchronous drive torque are proposed. These allow one to adjust the drive operating regimes by altering the shape of the triangle formed by the stator and rotor flux linkages and the resultant flux linkage. It is shown that setting up regimes in synchronous electric drives with this method of control is plausible in the presence of a rotor position sensor, which is needed in order to determine the rotor position and the motor speed. The sensor may be set up either physically or mathematically as part of the drive coordinate monitor. © 2014, Allerton Press, Inc.
