Methods are discussed for reducing emissions of toxic chlorinated dibenzo-dioxins and dibenzo-furans in flue gases at plants which burn solid domestic waste. Results are presented from a study of the efficiency of scrubbing of dioxins by an absorption method at the Cherepovets factory. It is shown that solving the dioxin problem will facilitate an increase in the number of thermal power plants using solid domestic waste being built in other countries. © 2009 Springer Science + Business Media, Inc.
