The paper finds a role for knowledge management in the management of business risk. We start by demonstrating that risk management is an issue of some significance to most organisations. We then briefly examine the problem of defining risk and its relationship with hazard, including a pragmatic categorisation of risks adopted by industry. Stress is placed upon the key role played by information and knowledge as risk constructs.
