Het groeiende tekort aan goede verpleegkundigen is een probleem waar veel westerse landen mee kampen. Als mogelijk antwoord hierop is eind vorige eeuw in de VS het concept van magneetziekenhuizen ontwikkeld met als doel verpleegkundigen te werven en behouden.
