The article presents the results of field studies of the interaction of vertically loaded drilled piles with rocky soils in the conditions of Yekaterinburg. The use of drilled piles equipped with a strain gauge system made it possible to determine the real resistances along the lateral surface and at the heel, as well as the mechanical characteristics of the rocky base. It has been established that the resistance of piles along the lateral surface in rocky soils is in the range of 0.41-1.48 MPa. The heel of the piles is not included in the work in case of deformations that do not go beyond the normative range. Based on the results of reverse calculations, the estimates and refinement of the mechanical characteristics of rocky soils were made. It was found that the strength characteristics according to laboratory tests of rocky soils are overestimated by 4.6-11.5 times compared to the soil massif, and the deformation characteristics differ by 2.3-2.5 times. The differences are related to the influence of the scale effect and the sampling method.
