摘要
The complete nucleotide sequence of eggplant mild leaf mottle virus (EMLMV), of the genus Ipomovirus identified from the leaves of eggplants of Uttar Pradesh, India was characterized. The EMLMV has 9284 nt genomic RNA that encodes a single polyprotein of 3172 amino acids, a characteristic genome organization for members of the family Potyviridae. The polyprotein is predicted to mature into 10 distinct proteins through the process of proteolysis as observed in squash vein yellowing virus (SqVYV). Like the cucumber vein yellowing virus (CVYV) another species of Ipomovirus, the polyprotein of EMLMV includes P1a and P1b but lacks HC-Pro. Phylogenetic analysis of the EMLMV-India showed 98% similarity with the EMLMV (MW503940) reported from Iraq. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the complete genome sequence of EMLMV infection on eggplant in India. © 2023, Indian Phytopathological Society.
