Lasing Threshold of Conical Modes in 1D Photonic Crystals

Abstract: We investigated numerically the relationship between the lasing threshold, the density of states (DOS), and field localization in binary 1D photonic crystals (PC) for several conical (non-axis) modes. A strong correlation between the ratio of thresholds and field localizations of each pair of modes of the same order was confirmed for s-polarization. It was shown that the angular dependence of DOS, threshold and localization is almost the same for mode pairs to the left and to the right of photonic bandgap. © 2022, Allerton Press, Inc.
