It is important to investigate the grinding process in developing methods of assessing the results of grinding operation and the tool quality and also in approximate assessment of the wheel life. A method of indirect assessment of the grinding process is proposed, on the basis of vibrational diagnostics and modal analysis. In grinding, the general spectrum of the amplitude-frequency characteristic includes a new frequency range associated with the grinding conditions and also with the blunting of the wheel. © 2015, Allerton Press, Inc.
