El género Dyschoriste (Acanthaceae) en Paraguay

The genus Dyschoriste comprises ca. 70 species, of mostly tropical and subtropical distribution. Many of them are rarely collected and difficult to identify, and as a result the genus is poorly understood. This paper analyzes the taxonomy and distribution of the five species of Dyschoriste present in Paraguay. The species are described and illustrated, their nomenclature is resolved based on the study of type material, and a key to identify them is provided. Dyschoriste lavandulacea and D. serpyllum are lectotypified, and the work includes new synonymies and observations on the geographic distribution and ecology of the species.
