We give a numerical study of the flow near the backside of a plate of finite thickness past which a supersonic flow of viscous compressible heat-conducting gas is occurring, as a function of the Reynolds number, symmetry conditions, and temperature conditions on the surface. © 1999 Kluwer Academic/Plenum Publishers.
