After a number of emergencies with power supply, the need arose to eliminate them in the future. This decision led to consideration of the problem of energy security at the federal level. Prime Minister V.V. Putin ordered an exploration of issues of security of the energy infrastructure of the Russian Federation, taking into account all factors that pose a threat. Under the RAS President, a working group was established on risk and security issues analysis (Risk and Security RAS WG) headed by RAS Corresponding Member N.A. Makhutov. A meeting of the RAS Presidium heard a paper devoted to one aspect of this problem associated with natural hazards, namely, the impact of phenomena in the Sun-Earth system on energy infrastructure facilities.
