摘要
A study of the thermodynamical and dynamical stability of self-gravitating charged shells is presented. The matter on the shell is described by a barotropic equation of state, and the charge is assumed to be proportional to the mass. For a given form of the entropy of the matter on the shell, it is shown that strong restrictions on the states of the shell follow from the imposition of both types of stability plus the condition that the speed of sound is less than one, in some cases leading to the absence of stable states.
