The study of the European Union has attracted growing attention in France since 2000. European integration is now a mature field of research within French political science. But the visibility of French scholarship remains modest in international debates. This review article sketches a panorama of European studies in France and describes the prominent themes, theories and methods. It discusses the contribution of the ‘French touch’ in contrast with international mainstream European studies.
