The AECT PacifiCorp Design and Development competition is an important event for students of and academic programs in instructional design and human performance improvement. Students benefit by working on a complex real-world problem, with the assistance of a mentor from another organization, going through a series of structured activities designed to better prepare them for life after college. Programs benefit through opportunities to enhance their curriculum, add to their theory bases, and receive recognition at the convention. I encourage faculty to use the resources from the competition to enhance their classes, and I encourage students to participate in an exciting opportunity that is rewarding in so many ways.
