The present study describes, two species of Russula; R. aurantiocutis belonging to subsection Urentes and Russula vinosobrunneola belonging to R. sect. Tenellae subsection Laricinae for the first time from India. R. aurantiocutis was collected from a conifer forest under Abies pindrow and Pinus spp. from Ramban and Yousmarg. It is characterized by fleshy chrome-orange pileus, enlarged firm stipe base, and basidiospores with prominent amyloid suprahilar spot. R. vinosobrunneola was collected from a mixed forest under Salix sp. and Pinus sp. from Dachigam and is characterized by vinaceous brown-tinged delicate pileus, inter-veined gills, and bright white cylindrical stipe. The specimens were identified on key morphological, anatomical characteristics, and molecular phylogeny based on nrITS (nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer) sequences. This is the first detailed description of these two new records of Russula spp. from India. © Indian Phytopathological Society 2023.
