摘要
Describes current legislative requirements around the use of safer sharps devices (SSDs) in healthcare, including those used for administration of local anaesthesia in dentistry.Examines the current usage of SSDs in UK dentistry, identifying that half of the primary care dental practices completing the survey were still using traditional local anaesthetic syringes.Reports that some sharps injuries were still being sustained in practices which had converted to SSDs, showing the need for more effective staff training and possibly further development of device design.
