摘要
This study determined the effectiveness of digital video instruction and PowerPoint presentation on students’ achievement and interest in accounting. To achieve the study objectives, we used quasi-experimental method of pre-test post-test non-equivalent group research design. Students’ achievement and interest in accounting were measured using accounting achievement test and accounting interest scale. This instrument was assessed for its validity and reliability. It was then administered to 159 participants drawn using purposive sampling technique. Findings revealed that digital video instruction (DVI) significantly improved students’ achievement in accounting when compared to PowerPoint presentation (PPP). The results also showed that no significant difference exists in the interest score of students taught using digital video instruction and those taught using PowerPoint presentations. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that teachers should adopt digital video instructional approach in teaching accounting and other subjects like measurement and evaluation, to improve students’ achievement and interest. Educational evaluators are by the findings of this study expected to carry out more studies in area of DVI and PPP to facilitate full integration of these modes of instructions while teaching measurement and evaluation courses.
